Conference of Parties to the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions

The General Delegate of the Regional Center for the Living Arts in Africa (CERAV/Africa), Mr. Wendlasida Herman POUYA participates in the ninth session of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions which is being held from June 6 to 8, 2023 in Paris, France. During this session, the adoption of the report of the eighth session of the Conference of Parties is planned, the examination of the draft revision of the guidelines on the use of the resources of the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), the review of the activities of the Committee 2024-2025, the election of the members of the Committee. This session will also be an opportunity to make proposals aimed at streamlining the cycles for submitting Quadrennial Periodic Reports (QPR) on the implementation of the 2005 Convention.
Present at this session, CERAV/Africa will have to evoke the actions deployed to strengthen the capacities of public actors and civil society through it, show the involvement of the Center in the dynamics of drawing up the Quadrennial Periodic Reports (QPR) by African States, encourage greater support from States, present the Practical guide for technical assistance to African States in the development of QPRs on the 2005 UNESCO convention.
It is worth emphasizing that, given its importance for States, the 2005 UNESCO Convention continues to be subject to ratification. Thus, three (03) countries have just ratified it. These are Cape Verde, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
